Shilם, who fell at the age of 25, was a former youth player for Hapoel and a passionate fan of the team. He enlisted in the Egoz Unit and served in command positions. Just eight months before the black Sabbath, he took command of the operational company of Battalion 13, Golani.
On the eve of Simchat Torah, Shilo Z"L stayed with his soldiers at the Nahal Oz base, and with the start of the attack, he climbed into a Namer with his troops to defend the communities of Nahal Oz and Sderot. He and his soldiers raced towards the fence, driving along its length and running over terrorists, while Shilo stood outside the Namer directing the battles. He and his team eliminated and halted dozens of terrorists, and over the radio, Shilo's voice could be heard shouting, “Go, go, we’ve run them over!”
During the fighting, Shilo was wounded in his hand, but that did not prevent him from continuing to fight. In a heroic decision, the distinguished commander bandaged himself, refused to be evacuated, and led his soldiers toward the Nahal Oz outpost when he heard about the Hamas infiltration occurring at that moment. When Shilo and his team broke into the base, their Namer came under constant fire from dozens of terrorists until it was hit by an RPG and disabled. Shilo and his six soldiers exited the Namer and began fighting the terrorists face-to-face, a team of seven brave fighters against dozens of terrorists. There, in those battles, Shilo was ultimately killed.

Shilo z"l and his girlfriend Tamar
When his girlfriend Tamer eulogized him, she said, “The first thought is that Shilo was exactly where he was supposed to be, because that’s the person he was. He always told me, if I’m going to die, it’s only for the sake of the country. So the question of why him doesn’t occupy me.” Shilo was the first to charge into battle against hundreds of terrorists, and even when he was wounded, he refused to evacuate, determined not to abandon his soldiers and the civilians, and continued to fight with selflessness until he was finally overpowered.
The entire family of Hapoel Jerusalem expresses its gratitude to the Har-Even family for their son’s bravery and embraces them forever. May Shilo's memory be blessed.
