The Hapoel Jerusalem family is shocked, pained, and mourning the sudden death of Avi Harel, the team's chairman in the late 1980s and early 1990s and one of the key figures in the story of Hapoel Jerusalem as a club.

Avi, a member of the Red Family in all his bones, was a significant figure in the club's path to becoming one of the leading clubs in Israeli basketball. His great loyalty to Hapoel was reflected in the financially difficult years, in which he worked day and night to add to and establish the club for The golden age that will come with the first victory in the State Cup in the 95-96 season.

Avi, the father of the club's former CEO, Guy Harel, never left the club. His warm presence stood out in every field in Israel and around the world. His intense love for the club was evident in many decades of perseverance and sacrifice for the club's success - as a manager and a die-hard fan.

Hapoel participates in the heavy sorrow of the Harel family; his wife Dina,
His children, Guy, Yuval, and Eran, and their family members.

Dear Avi, Rest In Peace. We will miss you.
