Dupree was born in Biloxi, Mississippi. He played college basketball for Louisiana State University (LSU). During his sophomore season the Tigers made it to the Sweet Sixteen round. Dupree was named All-SEC Second Team in each of his last three seasons with the Tigers. He ranks 8th in LSU history in points and 6th in rebounds.

Dupree went undrafted in the 2003 NBA Draft, but signed with the Chicago bulls. During his rookie season he averaged 6.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 19 minutes per game. He played 47 games for the Bulls.

In 2004 Dupree signed with the Detroit Pistons, and later he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He re-signed with the Pistons in 2006. He was waived in 2007 and signed a ten-day contract with the Seatle SuperSonics in 2008. In 2008/2009 he played for the Tulsa 66ers and for the Utah Flash of the NBA D-League. In 2010 he signed with the Toronto Raptors. Dupree has a total of 171 games in the NBA.

In 2012 Dupree left the States and signed with Regatas Corrientes of the Argentinian League, and then with Andrea Costa Imola Basket of the Italian League. He went back to the D-League in 2013, playing for the Los Angeles D-fenders and for the Reno Bighorns.

In August 2013 Dupree signed a two-year contract with Hapoel Jerusalem.
