Lior Eliyahu has been playing in Israel's First Division since he was 18 years old. He played for Hapoel Galil Elion for three years, then, following the 2005/06 season, he entered the NBA Draft. The Orlando Magic selected him with the 44th pick but did not offer him a contract. Eliyahu signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2006 and won his first championship in his first season. His best season for Maccabi came in 2008/09 where he averaged 14.0 PPG and 6.6 RPG per game. In addition, he was the first Israeli player ever to win the Euroleague MVP of the Month. His impressive stats brought him to Kutxa Laboral in Spain, where he helped lead the team to the Spanish national championship. Eliyahu scored 18 points in the deciding game against Euroleague champs Barcelona. In September 2010, Eliyahu returned to Maccabi Tel Aviv, guiding the club to the Euroleague Final Four. Two years later he was named Israeli League MVP. In November 2013, Eliyahu signed a three-year contract with Hapoel "Bank Yahav" Jerusalem, averaging 13.4 PPG his first season. In 2014, Eliyahu averaged 13.2 PPG. In 2015/16, Eliyahu posted 11.7 PPG in Israel and 10.5 PPG in the Eurocup. He has played in four Eurobaskets with the Israeli National Team and he will be on the team for the upcoming Eurobasket as well.

Last season, Eliyahu won his 2nd championship with Hapoel as he is posting 9.8 points per game in the Israeli League.
