After a 'sweet and sour' season, with winning the State Cup but not qualifying for the Israeli League Final Four, Hapoel Jerusalem hired Guy Goodes as coach. Goodes, who served as assistant coach for Maccabi Tel Aviv, was formerly coach of Maccabi Rishon LeZion.

Hapoel signed four new foreign players to join Timmy Bowers: center Omar Sneed, forward Rashon Clark, guard Adam Haluska and center Travis Watson. The team later released Clarck and replaced him with forward Roger Powell Jr. and center Torin Francis. The team also released most of its Israeli players and signed Moran Rot and Jewish-American forward Jordan Fliegel. Yuval Naimi, who grew up in Hapoel's youth teams, returned to the club.
