Hapoel "Bank Yahav" Jerusalem beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 89-82 after a thriller.

The reds played outstanding in the first half with bench players Duncan, Timor and Gaffney bringing excitement, energy and three pointers. Eliyahu scored on a buzzer-beater to end the half with a 53-29 lead.

Late in the game, Maccabi found a way to come back and Hapoel's lead was cut to five. In those thrilling minutes, the game promised it's hype between the two biggest teams in Israeli basketball. Donte Smith kept the lead for the reds with 7 straight points in the 4th quarter and Hapoel won again at Menora Mivtachim Arena.

Smith scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. He was selected to the MVP of the match.

Fischer added 14 points (6/6 FG), Timor and Gaffney scored 11 points each, Eliyahu and Duncan with 10 points each, Rowland 8 points and 7 assists, Halperin 6 points, Janning 2 points.

For Maccabi, 22 for Landesberg who was in charge of Maccabi's unsuccessful late comeback. Trevor Mbakwe scored 16 points.
