Timor Leads Hapoel to Victory in Opener

Israeli League started on Saturday with Hapoel "Bank Yahav" Jerusalem beating Bnei Hertzliya

7,000 fans arrived at Pais Arena on Saturday night to watch the Israeli League opener between Hapoel "Bank Yahav" Jerusalem and Bnei Hertzliya. This was the 1st opportunity for the local fans to see Hapoel's new faces such as coach Simone Pianigiani, Amar'e Stoudemire, Jerome Dyson, Curtis Jerrells, Tarence Kinsey, Travis Peterson and Isaac Rosefelt.

Jerusalem took the lead from the begining and never let the foot off the gas as the game ended with a 81-61 win after a great defensive performance. Bar Timor started in the lineup and lead the team's scorers with 19 points. Amar'e Stoudemire didn't record a field goal in 25 minutes but he was very active on both sides on the court with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Overall, five players from Hapoel scored in double figures: Halperin and Peterson 14 pts, Dyson and Eliyahu 12 pts.
